Erect shrub, with white milky juice, 1-3 m high. Leaves simple, opposite, oblong or oblong-, 4-15 cm wide, 8-30 cm long, both surfaces white tomentose. Inflorescence in axillary peduncled. many-flowered cyme; flowers lilac or white with corona. Fruit a pair of follicles; seeds with short-hairy comas.
White latex from stem: potent purgative, anthelmintic; topically apply to ringworm and tinea versicolor; relieves toothache, earache. Stem bark: emetic; treatment of allergic dermatitis with watery or pus discharge. Flower, promotes diges-tion and appetite; cough and asthma remedy. White latex contains heart stimulating substance, needs more research on toxicity.
