Tree, up to 30 m high, branchlets fulvous-tomentose. Leaf simple, alternate, elliptic, lanceolate or obovate, 3-9 cm wide, 7-22 cm long. Inflorescence in axillary few-flowered glomerulous cluster; flowers white. Fruit dry, dehiscent, ovoid, densely tomentose, brownish when ripe; seeds black with red arilloid.
Branch and stem: antiflatulent, appetizer; relief of abdominal spasm; an ingredient in the antiasthmatic formula. Stem bark and wood: decoction; treatment of kidney disfunction with mucous, yellow or red urine.
