Biophytum sensitivum DC.(Krathuep Yop)

Thai name : Krathuep Yop


Erect, unbranched, annual herb; stem finely puberulous, dull red-brownish, up to 20 cm high. Leaves paripinnate, in a compact spiral at the tip of the stem, 6-11 cm long; leaflets 8-12 pairs, suborbicular, elliptic or obovate, 4.5-10 mm wide, 6-12 mm long. Inflorescence terminating the stem; peduncle 3-10 cm long; corolla tube light green, corolla lobes yellow with some red vertical steaks at the base inside. Fruit ellipsoid capsule, pale light greenish.


Whole plant: decoction; antipyretic, diuretic, antidiabetic; treatment of dysuria with bloody urine; crush with water, topically apply to ab­scesses, chronic wounds, scorpion bites. Stem or leaf: antihiccup; treatment of sorethroat; detoxify­ing agent. Root: treatment of gonorrhea and
