Tree, 25-50 m high. Leaf simple, alternate, ellip-tic-obovate, 5-10 cm wide, 10-20 cm long. Inflorescence in axillary, spiciform raceme, polygamo-dioecious; flowers yellow. Fruit fleshy, subglobose, angular.
Unripe fruit: laxative. Ripe fruit: antidiarrheal, astringent.
