Thai name : Sangwaan Phra In


Parasite; stem yellowish-green, filiform, twin­ing, scrambling over other plants; young parts yellow tomentose. Leaf none or of minute scales. Inflorescence in axillary spike; flowers globose, yellowish-green. Fruit fleshy, obovoid or globose, white at maturity.

Whole plant liver and kidney tonic; treat­ment of common colds, cough with bloody spu­tum, dysuria with urinary stones, urinary tract infections, jaundice, dysentery, nosebleed, chronic wound inflammation, burns. For veterinary use, mix with lime water as bovine anthelmintic. In animal experiments, whole plant extract acts as diuretic, antipyretic, central nervous system de­pressive, hypotensive with respiratory depression. High doses cause convulsion and death.
