Custard Apple, Bullock's Heart

Thai name : Noinong


Small tree, 6-7 m high. Leaf simple, alter-s, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 4-6 cm wide, 12-15 cm long. Flowers solitary or 2-3-flowered fascicled, greenish yellow. Fruits aggregate, sabglobose or heart-shaped, turned dark red when ripe.

Unripe fruit: antidiarrheal, antidysenteric, anthelmintic. Fresh leaf: crush with small amount of water and put on affected area to relieve painful swelling; treatment of tinea versicolor, ringworm, scabies, leprosy and yaws. Unripe fruit and fresh laf. used as dye, black and blue color respectively. Leaves contain annoreticuin-9-one, squamone, solamin, annomonicin and rolliniastatin, which are ink to cells and have potential for anticancer Research.
