An annual herb, with small, white or pinkish purple flowers borne on compound terminal umbels.The aromatic odor and taste of coriander fruits is due to an essential oil. The chief constituent of the oil is coriandrol.
The fruits are considered anti-microbial, astringent, carminative, diuretic, tonic, stomachic, antibilious, refrigerant and aphrodisiac.
